MUSIC for RELAXATION, HEALING  & MEDITATION

The Healing Power of Music

"Music has touched the human soul across all boundaries of time, space, and genre....Perhaps, in its vibratory nature, music opens us to a greater appreciation of our essential connectedness to the cosmos, our oneness with all that is." (Canadian Professor Balfour M. Mount)

All life is energy, and all energy is vibration. Every cell of every living thing has a frequency. The theory of sound therapy is that if one organ in the body is 'out of tune' its discordance will affect the whole body. Thus, by achieving resonance, the body can be steered back into harmony and balance, without the need for drugs or surgery.
Can music really help our natural healing processes? History shows its use in many ancient civilisations, and modern research suggests that yes, music can indeed help us to get better, both physically and emotionally, when the vibrations and frequencies resonate with our mind, body and spirit. In World War II doctors quickly discovered that wounded and shell-shocked soldiers would fare better in rehabilitation when their treatment regime included
listening to suitable music.
Studies in 1992 across the USA, UK and Germany reported that patients who listened to music were less anxious, more comfortable and recovered quicker. Music has been found to aid our relaxation and emotional release, reduce stress and anxiety, relieve pain (thought to be through stimulation of the body's natural painkilling endorphins), lower blood pressure and improve the respiratory and circulatory systems. Listening to music has brought benefits to Alzheimers sufferers, and helped in depression and mental illness. It has also proved of value for many other patients, including pregnant mothers, premature babies, and poorly children.
Supermarkets know that playing the right kind of background music makes sound commercial sense
- one chain enjoyed a 40% boost in sales when they soothed their shoppers with slow, relaxing music!
